ETHIOPIA: At least 31 people were killed and dozens injured when an overcrowded bus travelling from Dessie to Addis Ababa plunged into a ravine in the northern Amhara region.

Police said delays in emergency response, caused by a lack of infrastructure and ambulance services, may have contributed to the death toll.

The authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, which happened on a notoriously dangerous mountain road.
