Mexico City. This Friday a meeting is being held in Mexico City between delegations from the governments of Mexico and the United States to follow up on the bilateral security agenda, in an encounter in which officials from both countries will participate at the level of undersecretaries.

The Mexican delegation will be made up of representatives from various institutions in charge of security and law enforcement, as President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo commented in the morning, who added that the encounter is headed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Roberto Velasco “and together with representatives of the Attorney General’s Office, Secretariat of Citizen Security, Defense, Navy, National Guard,” she indicated.

Sheinbaum announced that the Mexican government will insist on some pending issues with U.S. authorities, among them the delivery of evidence related to the detention requests presented by the U.S. government against Mexican politicians, including the governor on leave of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya.

Earlier this week, the head of the Secretariat of Foreign Relations, Roberto Velasco, reported that this Friday conversations would resume in Mexico between Mexican officials and representatives of the U.S. embassy to evaluate progress on border security and the fight against money laundering.
