“We’re not going to back down.” Nurses at St. Mary of Nazareth hospital in Chicago are on a one-day unfair labor practice strike. Prime Healthcare, the owners of the hospital, fired six nurses for protected union activity shortly after the nurses filed for a union election. The nurses are demanding better pay and benefits, safer working conditions, and the reinstatement of those fired. The unionization vote will take place on June 17, and they will join National Nurses United if successful.
