Fourteen-year-old Black teenager Cyrus Carmack-Belton was fatally shot outside a Columbia-area gas station by store owner Rick Chow in 2023. Earlier this week, a jury found Chow not guilty of murder. Carmack-Belton’s mother Nicole Carmack slammed the verdict at a vigil for her son, declaring, “The devil shot him dead. And we got no justice.”
