May 25 marked the six-year anniversary of the killing of George Floyd. Floyd’s uncle Selwyn Jones spoke to BT about the 2020 uprising that his murder ignited, crediting social media and urging younger generations to use technology to make the movement for justice go viral. Jones calls Derek Chauvin’s conviction a win, but warns the system that made the officer feel “10 feet tall and bulletproof” remains intact. But Selwyn maintains faith in the movement, insisting, “We can end systemic racism, but we as people have to come together.”
