Sector IX of Indigenous Education of Section XVIII of the CNTE-SNTE called for an emergency demonstration this Friday, May 29, at the Zirahuén toll booth , following the murder of a teacher in the Costa region of Michoacán. The call was disseminated through an official summons issued by the Secretariat of Organization of Sector IX of Indigenous Education, dated May 28 in Morelia.
In the document, addressed to members of the workforce and indigenous communities of the state, the union organization lamented the death of one of its newly hired colleagues, who lost his life in a context of insecurity in the Costa region.
“In light of the recent events in our sister coastal region where, unfortunately, one of our newly hired colleagues lost his life amid the wave of insecurity,” the statement reads.

The CNTE indicated that the mobilization will be “in an emergency manner” and called for the participation of both active teachers and members of Indigenous communities.
According to the summons, the gathering is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. this Friday, May 29, at the Zirahuén toll booth.
The union organization reiterated its concern about the unsafe conditions faced by teachers and residents of different regions of Michoacán, especially in indigenous and coastal areas.
The document concludes with a call for unity among teachers under the slogan: “United and organized we will win.”
