“How can you allow such open fascism into Fifa?” Human rights barrister Franck Magennis says it’s “notorious” that IDF soldiers would end the careers of emerging Palestinian footballers by shooting their feet. In an interview with Palestine Deep Dive, Magennis recalls the killing of ‘Palestinian Pelé’ Suleiman al-Obeid by Israeli forces in Gaza last summer. “If football wasn’t political, Israel wouldn’t go after the footballers in Gaza and kill them,” says Palestinian journalist and interviewer Ahmed Alnaouq.
