May 31 Address to Be Nationwide and in Defense of SovereigntyPresident Claudia Sheinbaum announced that her May 31 speech will not take place in the Zócalo but will instead be broadcast in public squares in the country’s 32 states.

She added that the message will also serve as a response to the media offensive against the 4T. “It is also about defending sovereignty and fending off the media onslaught,” Sheinbaum explained.

FGR Exploratory Meetings with Rocha and Maru Campos “Are Not Indictments”: SheinbaumThe President clarified that the Federal Attorney General Office’s (FGR) exploratory meetings with Governor Maru Campos and Sinaloa governor on leave, Rubén Rocha Moya, are part of normal investigative procedures and do not constitute formal charges.

Sheinbaum explained that the investigation in Chihuahua is related to the alleged participation of foreign agents in anti-drug operations without federal government authorization.

Morena remains in the leadSheinbaum noted that Morena remains the leading political force in the country, according to an El Universal poll that places the party at 39% in voter prfeerences for the Chamber of Deputies, while the PAN, PRI, and MC trail behind with 11%, 10%, and 9%, respectively.

The media offensive has had no impact on either Morena or the Sheinbaum administration. The people’s warm regard for the government is moving, she commented after discussing her 70% approval rating according to the El Heraldo poll.

“Return what was stolen”: Sheinbaum on Alito MorenoThe President commented on the investigations against PRI national president Alejandro “Alito” Moreno and maintained that, if the use of illicit funds is proven, “It would be in the best interest of the Mexican people that what was stolen be returned and used for the people’s welfare.”

Sheinbaum reiterated that it is up to the Federal Attorney General’s Office to determine whether or not to legally proceed against Alito. “It is the FGR; I can give my opinion. But let the attorney general respond in this case.”

The “Mexican Diaspora University Studies Departments” Are LaunchedThe Mexican government presented the University Studies Department of the Mexican Diaspora program to connect Mexican scientists working abroad with the country’s universities and institutions.

The program will recognize researchers within the National System of Researchers and provide mobility grants to teach seminars, advise students, and participate in strategic projects.

The 4T Reclaims Water from Private HoardingSheinbaum defended the National Water Plan and explained that “we are reclaiming control and oversight of a resource as vital as water, which was previously privatized and whose management was rife with corruption.”

Furthermore, the President charged that for many years, concessions were sold among private parties, while large concessionaires hoarded millions of liters of water without using them.
