Students graduating from college across the US are booing speakers who praise artificial intelligence. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, real estate executive Gloria Caulfield and Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records were all met with jeers when they tried to tout the benefits of the controversial technology. “So that is a lesson learned for us,” concluded Tiffany Hernandez, the president of Glendale Community College in Arizona, after an AI system used to read graduate names malfunctioned mid-ceremony.
