“Keir Starmer is clinging on by his fingernails.” On Novara Live, Ash Sarkar says the prime minister is holding on to the top role “with every sinew he has” since Labour’s catastrophic losses in the council elections last week. More than 80 Labour MPs have now called for Starmer’s resignation. Rumours abound that Andy Burnham, Angela Rayner or Wes Streeting could put themselves forward as replacements – but none has yet done so. “There is no dignity in the Labour party,” says Sarkar.
