On Saturday, millions across the world commemorated the 81st anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in WWII. As part of celebrations, countries held “Immortal Regiment” marches — an annual Victory Day tradition in which participants carry portraits of their relatives who fought in the war. The tradition started in Russia and spread to other countries.
