Labour has failed to communicate what it believes in and is suffering a brutal set of local election defeats as a result. Speaking to the BBC, Ash Sarkar says Labour was wrong to pander to the right, rather than addressing issues that unite people across the political spectrum. “The most important issue across all the different parts of the electorate is the cost of living,” says Sarkar, adding that tackling it could bring together “a working class Muslim voter in east London” and “a white working class voter in the northeast”.
