According to candidate Khizer Qayyum, the Labour Party has been ripping down Green Party signs in Leeds. In his own words, it’s a sign that activists from the failing Labour Party are reliant on “dirty tricks”:

Green Party seeing Labour become increasingly desperate
As we’ve reported, the Labour Party has become increasingly desperate as this campaign has rumbled on. This has seen nonJewish Labour ministers suggest that Jewish Zack Polanski an ‘antisemite’. It’s also seen the party attacking a beloved charity leader who spent years supporting ex-prisoners on their rehabilitative journey. And now, it’s apparently seen on-the-ground Labour activists resorting to petty vandalism.
In the interview above, Qayyum says:
Yeah, so the turnout’s been great. We’re getting a lot of good feedback from the community. They’re turning up. However, the ones that are still to come, please bring your IDs because we’ve seen a lot of people get turned around.
But obviously there’s been a lot of shenanigans this morning with Labour going around ripping off our signboards. But we’ve got a team back on it. They’re putting them back up.
The Canary’s roving reporter Barold asked:
What do you think that says about the local Labour Party and how they see their chances today?
Qayyum answered:
It’s fear. If you look around, I’ve got about a minimum of 100 people on the ground. This has never happened. It’s fear. The residents, they know the general feeling
Barold noted:
Well, it’s clear to see from walking around as well… there’s very few Labour boards that I’ve seen compared to the Green boards that seem to be scattered up and down the alleys and up and down the houses.
Qayyum explained:
So we’ve spent quite a few days on that really because we were putting them up, they were getting taken down, then we were coming back out. Like last night, I was putting these back up last night. So it’s fun and games.
“Dirty tricks”
Barold further noted:
It’s interesting because most people don’t see the cut and thrust of local politics. They think it’s all a lot nicer and a lot friendlier than the national game. But this year sounds like it’s been quite hectic.
Qayyum agreed:
This year, I think nationally, Labour are quite scared. So they are pulling out all the dirty tricks.
On the topic of dirty tricks, a Leeds local told the Canary that Labour activists have been putting up signs on people’s property without permission. Our source presumed Labour chose the houses based on who they voted for in the last election. Several of the residents who received these surprise Labour signs told our source they’d not been asked; they also said they’d be voting for the Green Party.
So it looks like things have started to stink in the Labour Party. And as they say, the fish rots from the head:
In coordination with Starmer, Tom Watson plotted to bring down Corbyn as Labour leader – now he’s crying because the coup is on the other foot
