Daily Mail’s latest attack on the Greens article reads as though the tabloid itself is part of the “Vote Green” chorus — but are they aware?

They caricature the Green Party and its policies with the expected dose of hyperbole. Only the Mail’s bad-faith reporting misses the mark, failing in its character assassination attempt.

Do they think at this late stage, this narrative discourages voters who feel neglected in favour of the monied class?

Let’s evaluate and clarify some of the Daily Mail’s claims anyway.

Facts over fiction

The article claims that the Greens will “outlaw” private landlords. only, they never said that.

What is true, however, is that one in eight parliamentarians received rental income in 2025 including Rachel Reeves and David Lammy, and plenty more Labour figures.

The Greens have been promising to “use their voice to pressure the Labour government to give local authorities the power to introduce rent controls to curb overheating rents.”

Greens are also supporting calls for rent controls for small high street shops. They urging councils to revive empty commercial properties through compulsory purchase orders.

Daily Mail’s beanstalk of lies

Warhawks have come down hard on Polanski over his NATO position. Polanski has previously said the UK needs an “alternative alliance to NATO with the EU” as a safeguard against Trump’s unpredictability.

Meanwhile, the Mail claims Polanksi is calling for complete withdrawing from NATO. Try harder.

The outlet also misrepresents Greens drugs policy. They have called for the legalisation of cannabis  through strictly regulated, licensed stores.

They have not advocated the use of cannabis by children or suggested it should be allowed at nightclub. Their policy aims to reduce harm, tackle illicit drug activity, and improve education.

Give up the hysteria, Daily Mail. We read your movingcolumn by Sarah Vine — ex-wife of former Tory MP Michael Gove — about her husband’s cocaine use. Yet object when the Green Party proposes a health-led approach to drugs.

What about the Monarchy?

The Daily Mail also took aim at governance reforms proposed by the head of the Green Party.

In an interview with Abolish Westminster, Polanski said he would start with abolishing the House of Lords, saying:

citizens’ assemblies about what you do with the House of Lords is a conversation that I think would be really good.

On the subject of Britain’s monarchy — which he flatly said, isn’t his “number one priority” —  Polanski outlined his position:

If the straight question is, ‘would I abolish the monarchy,’ yeah, absolutely.

By over exaggerating and vilifying the Greens as “radical” leftists, the Daily Mail may have accidentally done the Greens’ campaigning for them.
