Reform

Far-right think tankers, Reform UK, Tory MPs, British generals and assorted Trump allies gathered to discuss Nigel Farage’s plans for a MAGA-style foreign policy. The event, held in Cambridge, also endorsed Trumpian plans to annex Greenland.

Byline Times exposed shocking details about the gathering. The key organiser was Alan Mendoza, hard-right head of the pro-Israeli Henry Jackson Society (HJS) and Reform council hopeful. Mendoza hosted the Reagan-Jackson Security Dialogue at the Cambridge Union on 18 and 19 February 2026.

Great to be joined by @RobertJenrick in Abbey Road.

Big turnout and lots of support for incumbent councillor @alanmendoza and our 2 other stellar candidates. pic.twitter.com/IFKQHgBqL5

Byline reported:

The private gathering brought together serving British military leadership, Conservative MPs and peers, and Trump administration envoys.

Mendoza is Reform UK’s “Chief Advisor on Global Affairs”. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute previously platformed US president Donald Trump’s son, Eric. The junior Trump was promoting a conspiracist book:

denying his father’s loss of the 2020 presidential election.

Byline said the dialogue endorsed an article:

promoting US military annexation of a NATO ally.

That ally was Greenland, which is currently administered by Denmark. The Canary readers will remember the furore around Trump’s plans to annex Greenland in early 2026.

British military figures spoke at the Reform candidate’s conference

Speakers from the foundation appear to endorse so-called ‘conservative internationalism’. The doctrine:

backs “the expansion of freedom through the use of military force”.

The foundation has also publicly endorsed “Trump’s global tariff offensive”.

As Byline pointed out:

The British economy and wider Europe have faced significant fallout from Trump’s tariffs, undermining an already deeply fragile financial situation and further impacting the slowdown in GDP growth.

This begs questions about Farage and Reform UK, who preposterously claim to support British interests. Serving and former British generals also spoke at the two-day event.

The opening went to General Sir Jim Hockenhull – the serving Commander of UK Cyber and Specialist Operations Command, and former Chief of Defence Intelligence. The closing went to General Sir Richard Barrons, one of the leaders of the 2025 UK Strategic Defence Review.

Barrons, who is retired, has recently been on the Canary’s radar as he lobbies for defence spending hikes. Neither he nor the legacy media have mentioned his link to private military interests.

Many Tory MPs and grandees spoke at the dialogue:

Sir Julian Lewis MP – the only parliamentarian to have ever chaired both the Intelligence and Security Committee and the Defence Select Committee – sat on the opening panel on the new US National Security Strategy.

And:

The opening panel was moderated by Sir Brandon Lewis – former Northern Ireland Secretary, Conservative Party Chairman and Lord Chancellor, a sitting HJS trustee.

Supported by the Trump administration

Ex-Brexit Secretary David Davis spoke on “AI and information warfare”, and:

Rear Admiral Chris Parry, listed in the conference programme as a Reform UK mayoral candidate, made an appearance.

A US general, several Trump security chiefs and two US senators also appeared at the event. Byline reported:

The Mendoza event was organised with some financial support from the Trump administration, with the US State Department covering accommodation expense for the senators’ and senior staff.

As the Canary reported on 16 April, the rabidly pro-Israel Mendoza is running as a Reform UK council candidate on 7 May:

Mendoza’s disgusting reach extends way beyond that racist little think-tank in London. As the President of the Jewish National Fund UK (JNF), he leads a charity that literally erases Palestinians and their history, just to fund illegal occupation. And they’re using our fucking money to do it. One of their most disgusting projects is Britannia Park, a leisure facility in Israel.

And he is just the tip of the spear… While local elections don’t usually hinge on foreign policy, we need to see the bigger picture here. Farage’s Reform intend to make the UK even more of a US lapdog than it already is: an aim which can hardly be called patriotic.

This closed-doors event shows how the right-wing of the pan-Atlantic ruling class are cooperating to make sure a pro-Trump party gets an even stronger grip on UK politics.
