Steve Sweeney, veteran war correspondent and RT’s Lebanon bureau chief, joins Rania Khalek and Zoe Alexandra to discuss his interrogation and detention in the UK last year and why he’s living in exile now. “They asked me if I loved my country,” Sweeney recounts, saying he said he told them he doesn’t, but, “In a democracy you are entitled to be able to criticize your leaders.” During his detention, Sweeney was informed that his government is investigating him on terrorism charges largely in relation to his work as a prominent war correspondent. He said he was not surprised that this same Labour Government did not condemn his near assassination by Israeli forces.
