Following a Supreme Court ruling last week that upended enforcement mechanisms of the Voting Rights Act, President Donald Trump called on Republican states throughout the country to use the occasion to gerrymander their maps for political reasons. The missive from Trump, posted on Truth Social on Monday, incorrectly implied that states had to change their maps following the court’s ruling.

Go on national shutdown. Not organised weekend strike. Shutdown.

They got no choice, it’s either hardship, hardership or the hardestship. It’ll cost jobs they don’t want, healthcare that doesn’t help them and houses they don’t own but they refused to do the easy ones.

They won’t get another fair election, that’s done. It’s either grind it to a halt or that’s it. They live under Trump and his kids for life.

    One peaceful option.

Well, they’re going to have to stop finding reasons like that one not to do it, unless they’re willing to fold.

I honestly can’t see any other option. This is the result of sustained poor attendance at elections, particularly primaries over a long period of time.

The only group who have turned out in numbers and with resolve are the Republican voters.
