Chris Smalls, the founder of the Amazon Labour Union, was reportedly arrested outside the Met Gala yesterday. An activist protesting the Gala’s sponsorship by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was wrestled to the ground and taken away by police officers. Observers have said the arrestee was Smalls. Activists citing concerns over worker exploitation at Amazon warehouses have accused Bezos of artwashing his record by sponsoring the annual fashion show. The New York Police Department confirmed to the Independent that a 37-year-old man was taken into custody with charges pending.
