The National Democratic Front-Negros (NDF-Negros) condemned in the strongest terms the US-Marcos II regime and its henchmen, the AFP, regarding the killing of 2 minors in Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental last April 19, 2026.
In a press statement released May 5, NDF-Negros spokesperson Ka Bayani Obrero expressed ‘the anger of the revolutionary mass organizations in Negros towards the blatant disregard of International Humanitarian Law, completely opposite to the AFP’s claim that it protects the people’.
”The summary execution of Jemina Gumadlas, 15, and Dexter Patajo, 17, alongside 7 other unarmed individuals and 10 hors de combat Red fighters who had no capability in retaliating shows the inherently violent nature and bloodthirst of the reactionary armed forces. Instead of following protocol to distinguish combatants from civilians, the 79th IB and the 303rd Infantry Brigade worked hard to fabricate evidence and legitimize the so-called encounter” mentioned Obrero.
Furthermore, Obrero decried how the AFP ‘lauded its ranks and celebrated the Toboso massacre, including the killing of 2 children, feat only monsters are capable of. Their heinous crime is denounced by the families of the victims and the masses, and their celebration only outrages the people more’.
The statements of the Apolinario Gatmaitan Command and the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command confirm that the incident in April 19 was not a result of an encounter, but a ‘full-on bloodbath committed by the AFP,’ said Obrero.
”The track record of the AFP in the island shows that they are more than capable of killing minors, including the Jacolbe massacre in Canlaon City and the Fausto massacre in Himamaylan City. This pattern is etched in the culture of impunity they strive to terrorize the masses with,” Obrero added.
Obrero also clarified that ‘the NPA remains strict in its policy in only recruiting individuals aged 18 and above, contrary to the AFP’s hogwash. However, the revolutionary movement will continue to protect the rights and welfare of children and the people, including their right to defend their lives, livelihoods and communities from state terrorism’.
