We are excited to announce the publication of the May edition of Left Voice Magazine, a supplement that explores strategic debates on the most pressing issues around the world, revolutionary theory, and the history of the socialist movement.
This issue includes three articles drawing on the lessons we can learn from the anti-ICE movement in Minneapolis, which showed that it is possible to fight back against the Trump administration with the firepower of the working class in our workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods.
In “Minneapolis: Notes on a New Chapter of Class Struggle in the United States,” Daniel Kóvacs engages with the work of Anton Jäger, Robert D. Putnam, and Eric Blanc to discuss the relationship between the working class and the community writ large; from there he traces how class struggle in Minneapolis will continue to shape the terrain of class struggle in the United States. “Image/Revolt: Minneapolis From Below” by Jason Koslowski uses images, quotations, and testimonials from workers and activists on the ground during the uprising against ICE in Minneapolis to invite readers to reflect on the strategic significance of organization that took place against Trump and his immigration policies. Rita Singer presents Left Voice’s coverage in Minneapolis over the past five months in “Minneapolis: The City that Fought Back,” featuring analysis and reporting on this important episode of class struggle.
The Epstein Files have become synonymous with the impunity of the elite in our society. How do we understand these decades of systemic abuse and how do we organize to fight back? As Madeleine Freeman writes for this issue of our magazine, “Epstein’s Crimes Are Rooted in Patriarchy and Capitalism: Socialist Feminism Is the Answer.”
Finally, we republish the first chapter of Marina Garrisi’s 2024 book Découvrir Lénine (Discovering Lenin). It analyzes the fight to launch Iskra, the revolutionary socialist newspaper published from abroad and spread clandestinely in Russia.
