Nigerien students, activists, and social organizations are demanding the expulsion of French corporations from the Sahel region, as well the “complete abolition” of the CFA franc. Instead, they are calling on the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and AES leaders to accelerate a common currency. The activists gathered in Niamey on Thursday to pay tribute to the victims of the April 25 attacks in Mali.
