“May Day is not a moment. It’s a movement.” North Carolina teachers are preparing for a massive statewide walkout for their students on May 1 as part of the national shutdown. The action will launch their “Kids Over Corporations” campaign which demands fully funding the state’s public schools, ending corporate tax breaks, eliminating private school vouchers, and lifting the ban on collective bargaining for public sector workers.
