Malian President General Assimi Goïta declared the security situation in the country “under control” following a wave of coordinated attacks by Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM) and the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) over the weekend. Goïta stated that the attacks are “part of a broader destabilization plan designed and carried out by terrorist armed groups, with internal and external sponsors providing them with intelligence and logistical support.”
