The U.S. and Philippines launched their largest yet annual Balikatan military exercises last week with 17,000 troops from both countries, Australia, Japan, France, and Canada participating. As part of the drills, American missile systems have been deployed to the Luzon Strait, just 100 miles south — and within striking distance — of Taiwan, in preparation for war with China. The exercises run until May 8.
