How the Media Sold a Genocide

Adam Johnson is one of the left’s leading media critics. The co-host of the Citations Needed podcast, his writing has appeared in The Nation, In These Times, The Intercept, Los Angeles Times, and the *San Francisco Chronicle.*His new book *How to Sell a Genocide: The Media’s Complicity in the Destruction of Gaza*is a data-rich account of how U.S. press portrayed the destruction of Gaza as it unfolded. He uses detailed empirical analysis to expose media double standards in coverage of Palestinian and Israeli victims, and draws on interviews with insider sources at major media organizations to show how mainstream outlets deliberately censored Gaza coverage. Johnson recently joined Current Affairseditor-in-chief Nathan J. Robinson to discuss some of his findings.
