MANILA — Student councils, youth organizations, teachers and loved ones hold an indignation rally and vigil protest at Palma Hall, UP Diliman, mourning the life of student activist Alyssa Alano and reaffirming their determination to serve the people like she did.


Alano was reported to be in a community immersion with sugarcane farmers affected by militarization and landgrabbing in Toboso, Negros Occidental. On April 19, 2026, she, along with community journalist RJ Ladesma and other activists, were among the 19 casualties of the 79th Infantry Battalion.

Friends, teachers and loved ones shared stories about Alano’s energetic and indomitable character.
The program ended with candle lighting and offering of flowers for Alano. (RVO)
