But on Novara Live, James Schneider argues that - far from being “brilliant” and “saintly” - civil servants are “deeply enmeshed in power structures that work against us”. Robbins himself is no innocent. He personally oversaw the destruction of information leaked to the Guardian by Edward Snowden in 2013 – and did a three-year stint at Goldman Sachs in between appointments to public office.
