MEN’S FOOTBALL: Second-half goals from Reece McAlear and Ruari Paton earned St Johnstone a 2-0 win at Dunfermline that sealed the Scottish Championship title just a year after they dropped out of the Premiership.
The Saints kept faith in Finnish manager Simo Valakari despite relegation and have led the table all season.
Second-placed Partick Thistle, who they thumped 5-1 on the opening day, are already assured of a play-off semi-final spot.
