Keir Starmer claims nobody told him former US ambassador Peter Mandelson failed the vetting process. In the House of Commons, independent MP Diane Abbott points out that Mandelson has a thirty-year history of being forced to resign from public office for cavorting with millionaires and billionaires. “It’s one thing to say, ‘nobody told me’ – the question is why didn’t the prime minister ask?” says Abbott. “Peter Mandelson has a history.”
