The Israeli military is razing towns in Lebanon’s border regions to the ground, with one Israeli journalist gloating over the “light renovation” done to one destroyed town. Video footage shared by Israeli journalist Amit Segal on Telegram shows the town, which is home to 30,000 people, reduced to rubble and dust. Segal captioned the original video “an aerial tour of the Bint Jbeil kasbah after the light renovation by our forces.” On Sunday, Lebanese state media reported that the Israeli military was pressing on with large-scale house demolitions and detonations. Israel has published a map of its neighbouring country marking in red the border regions which it intends to take under its control. Bint Jbeil sits firmly within the buffer zone. Several military commanders told Israeli newspaper Haaretz that homes are being razed as part of a systemic policy to “clear the area”. The Lebanese Health Ministry reports that 2,297 people have been killed by Israeli aggression since 2 March.
