AROUND 50 protesters gathered outside of Aintree Racecourse on Saturday as the Grand National took place, calling attention to animal welfare concerns linked to the event.The demonstration was organised by Animal Aid in partnership with Merseyside Animal Rights Campaign and Team Tino Animal Rights. Protesters held placards highlighting what they described as the plight of horses involved in racing, alongside signs commemorating horses that have died at the Grand National in recent years.
