Groups supporting the Palestinian struggle gathered on April 10, at Acacia Hotel in Davao City for a two-day solidarity conference. Dubbed the National Solidarity Conference for Palestine, the assembly presented the participants’ firm stand with the Palestinian people who continue to suffer under Israel’s Zionist genocidal war.

The League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO) led the gathering, together with the Handala Project and other groups such as the Mindanao Peoples Caucus and United Bangsamoro Youth. Delegates from pro-Palestinian organizations in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Maldives, and Turkey joined the conference, along with representatives from Palestine itself. The conference aimed to discuss the current situation in Palestine and developments in the Middle East amid the US aggression against Iran.

League of Bangsamoro Organizations president Hashim B. Manticayan highlighted the similarity between the situations of the Bangsamoro and Palestine, saying both have long been victims of “aggression, displacement, militarization, and land grabbing.”

Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) vice chairperson Mohagher M. Iqbal served as keynote speaker at the conference.

The organizers said the conference is open to all supporters of Palestine, especially organizations across the Bangsamoro region.
