This initiative is part of the second iteration of the international flotilla seeking to break the blockade imposed by Israel on the Palestinian people, building on last year’s effort, when dozens of ships and hundreds of activists — including workers, doctors, lawyers, and activists from various countries — sailed across the Mediterranean to break the Israeli siege against the Palestinian people.

Leandro Lanfredi, a member of the Revolutionary Workers’ Movement (MRT) of Brazil and of our international organization, the Current for Permanent Revolution (CPR), will embark on the Global Sumud Flotilla as part of the Oil Workers’ Union [Sindipetro of Rio de Janeiro] and the National Federation of Oil Workers (FNP), promoting the campaign “Not a single drop of Brazilian oil for genocide,” which denounces how Brazilian oil has been used in recent years to fuel Israel’s Zionist war machine.

Lanfredi led an investigation that traced the path of oil from Brazilian platforms to the refineries supplying the Zionist war machine during 2023 and 2024, the peak of the current phase of the Palestinian genocide.

All of this took place with the complicity of the Brazilian state, which continued to prioritize profits over the lives of Palestinian children.

He also investigated and exposed unprecedented allegations about how Brazilian oil found another route through which Petrobras and other oil-extracting companies in the country indirectly fueled the Zionist war machine, via ties to a refinery in Italy that served as an intermediary in this bloody trade.

As part of this campaign for “Not a Single Drop of Brazilian Oil for Genocide,” Leandro Lanfredi, together with Bruno Gilga, a worker at the University of São Paulo (USP), activist with Sintusp [USP Workers’ Union] and spokesperson for the Brazilian delegation to the Global Sumud 2025 Flotilla, launched the “Not a Single Drop” TV show, where they interviewed prominent activists and intellectuals of the Palestinian cause to strengthen the denunciation and the international struggle against genocide.

Our participation as the Current for Permanent Revolution (CPR) comes amid growing tensions in the Middle East, marked by the imperialist war waged by the United States and Israel against Iran, the offensive launched by Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in southern Lebanon, and the ongoing massacre of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The international delegation of the CPR, of which Lanfredi is a member, also includes Iara Salerno, a doctor and Socialist Workers Party (PTS) activist in Argentina and founder of the Health and Care Station that treats injured protesters during demonstrations facing Milei’s repression in the streets, and Mariona Tasquer, a student at the University of Barcelona, who is part of the international youth movement rising up in defense of Palestine around the world.

The three will embark alongside 1,000 activists setting sail for Gaza on more than 100 ships.

In announcing his participation, Lanfredi called on oil workers, subway workers, teachers, factory workers, and our entire working class to join the struggle of the Palestinian people, who are rising up against genocide, as we have seen in the recent mobilizations that have taken to the streets of the West Bank.

The Flotilla’s new mission, driven by the urgency imposed by the massacre of the Palestinian people and the imperialist war, is part of international actions seeking to focus attention on the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Iran, amplifying the voices and strengthening the struggle of the world’s workers and oppressed peoples to confront Zionism and imperialism.
