On the brink of nuclear war, prime minister Keir Starmer chose to address a matter far more important than Donald Trump’s genocidal threats against Iran: Kanye West’s invitation to Wireless festival. Hours before the US and Iran reached a temporary ceasefire deal on Monday night, Trump had threatened to blow up all of Iran’s infrastructure and said that “a whole civilisation will die tonight” unless the strait of Hormuz was reopened. Starmer has not commented on the president’s statement, though did find time to tweet about the Home Office’s decision to ban Ye from the UK. “Nothing says managed decline quite like ignoring the possibility of nuclear Armageddon and instead tweeting about Wireless,” said Kieran Andrieu on Novara Live.
