Israel thinks it has the “legitimacy to target" civilians in Iran. Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon claimed to Fox News that Israel is “allowed” to bomb airports, hotels and other “civilian targets” because it is “retaliation”. Under international law, deliberately targeting civilians is prohibited under any circumstances and constitutes a war crime. US-based rights group Human Rights Activists in Iran said 3,540 people have been killed in the country since the beginning of the war, including 1,616 civilians and 244 children. Missiles launched from Iran and Lebanon have killed 19 people in Israel, with 10 soldiers killed in southern Lebanon.
