The Yemeni Armed Forces’ spokesman Brigadier General, Yahya Sare’e, announced in a televised statement on Thursday, April 2, that Ansar Allah carried out a military operation with a number of ballistic missiles on vital Israeli sites in the occupied city of Jaffa.

Sare’e affirmed that the operation was launched as part of Ansar Allah’s support to the resistance fronts in Iraq, Iran, occupied Palestine, and Lebanon.

He added that it was carried out in coordination with the “brethren mujahideen in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon”, and “achieved its goals successfully”.

Sare’e further pointed out that Ansar Allah’s military involvement in “this significant and exceptional battle” is gradual, warning that his movement’s engagement in the war will not stop there.

Ansar Allah’s spokesperson clarified that his group will deal with the upcoming developments based on Israel’s choice, whether it will go for an escalation or a de-escalation.

Ansar Allah’s announcement came a few days after the group had officially joined the war as an integral part of the Iran-led Axis of Resistance in West Asia.

Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which are also affiliated with the anti-imperialist coalition, joined the fight against the US and Israel last month, after both states had jointly launched their second large-scale aggression against the Islamic Republic.

Ansar Allah’s recent attacks on Israel were carried out months after the movement had stopped its attacks on Israel and its operations in the Red Sea because its demand for a ceasefire in Gaza was met.

According to analysts, the involvement of Ansar Allah in the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran and its allies in the West Asia region, represents a very crucial development.

For many, Ansar Allah’s capability of controlling the navigation in the Red Sea and potentially the Bab al-Mandab Strait, would serve as critical leverage, especially given Iran’s continued blockade over the Strait of Hormuz. The two together would be a strategic game changer which could lead to the capitulation of the Trump and the Netanyahu administrations in the war.

Ansar Allah leader praises the strength of the Axis of Resistance

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of Ansar Allah, in a televised address on the evening of April 2, praised Iran’s “powerful and persistent military operations”. He emphasized that “this formidable strength has resulted in the destruction of American military bases in the region and significant damage to Israeli capabilities, including the annihilation of many of their military assets. The US itself has acknowledged the unprecedented scale of these operations.”

Al-Houthi also addressed attempts by Western media to misrepresent the resistance to US-Israeli attacks and divide the peoples of the region, “The struggle against Zionism is not just the struggle of Iran, Lebanon, or Palestine…It is a collective struggle for all of us who care about the future of our lands and our people.”

Such media narratives, he explained, seek to “distort the position of Iran and other members of the resistance axis, portraying them as mere pawns in a game they do not control.” Even with the Palestinian resistance, he added, there is an attempt to suggest Palestinian groups are “merely fighting in Iran’s interest, without any noble cause of its own.”

The Yemeni leader insisted that at this critical juncture, unity of the resistance axis is primary. “The real strength of the resistance comes from the unity of purpose and shared commitment to the principles of justice and righteousness… This is the key to overcoming the enemy’s divide-and-conquer tactics, and it will ultimately lead to the downfall of their imperialist schemes.”
