Thousands of Syrians took to the streets on Wednesday to protest a recently passed Israeli law that authorizes the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners. Protesters condemned the Israeli legislation and expressed solidarity with Palestinian detainees as well as the people of Gaza. The Israeli Knesset approved the law on Monday, which stipulates that executions would be carried out by hanging, overseen by guards appointed by the Israeli Prison Service. The identities of those guards would remain secret, and they would be shielded from legal accountability.
