Children in Gaza have become so accustomed to death that it’s now part of the games they play. A video published by a Palestinian content creator shows children in a displacement camp carefully loading a doll onto a stretcher and carrying it over their heads as if in a funeral procession. The UN has warned that more than one million children in Gaza are in need of mental health and psychosocial support services after over two years of unrelenting violence perpetrated by Israel against Palestinians in the occupied territory.

the scale of death is something else here
think of an event, if a hundred or a thousand die. the majority of the population won’t know any victims, at best they might know someone who knows a victim.
if there are millions, like COVID, everyone knows someone who died.
in Gaza? one in 6 was murdered. survivors are lucky to know someone who is still alive. A family where no one has died in it is an extreme rarity.
it’s a genocide.
