We’re killing babies with no power.” Rightwing news anchor Rob Schmitt was reacting to Drop Site News journalist Ryan Grim as he described the impact of the US fuel blockade on pediatric wards in Cuba. “There’s a gap between when the power goes out and when the generator kicks in,” Grim said. “A baby can die in that time on a ventilator. So they have to… race and hand pump the ventilator.” No reports have emerged of babies in ventilators dying, but Grim, who visited Cuba recently, said “the United States is literally killing people” with its blockade.
