For the third year respectively, Palestinians in Gaza endured a deadly Eid al-Fitr holiday. At least nine people were killed and dozens others wounded in Israeli airstrikes across the besieged enclave since the holiday started on Friday, March 20.

On Sunday, March 22, a leader in the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) was killed in an Israeli aerial assault, which also left a number of other people injured in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in northern Gaza City.

Later that day, three members of the Palestinian police were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted their vehicle in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. Ten other people were reported injured in the offensive.

One person among those killed in Gaza during Eid al-Fitr holiday, which started on Friday, March 20, died due to agonizing injuries he had sustained in an earlier onslaught, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza. The circumstances of the death of the remaining fatalities are unknown.

The ministry added in a statement that the tally of Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza since the US-brokered ceasefire deal took effect on October 10, 2025, reached 687, with 1,845 others injured.

This takes the death toll of Palestinians killed since Israel’s genocidal aggression on the war-torn territory began on October 7, 2023, to 72,263 people, with 171,944 others wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
