One of the U.S.'s largest diesel refineries, owned by Valero, exploded on Monday, causing severe damage and a partial shutdown. The explosion occurred amid a surge in gas prices, fueled by concerns over global oil supplies due to the war in Iran. According to Valero’s website, the refinery employs around 770 people and has a processing capacity of roughly 435,000 barrels of oil per day. The plant converts heavy sour crude into gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.
