There is UNCONFIRMED reporting that USS Gerald Ford, the flagship of the US Navy, was taken out of the fight by crew sabotage.

I want to stress that these are unconfirmed, but the rumors are that the toilet issues were caused by sailors clogging the toilets with towels or shirts, and when that didn’t work, they set fired to the laundry.

I want to stress for a third time, in as many paragraphs, that these are unconfirmed. It is entirely possible that both of those situations were accidental, or that even if they were intentional, it was bored young men doing dumb shit without any thought to the consequences, as young people are often want to do.

All that said, even the rumor that those actions were taken intentionally to take the flagship carrier out of the fight, is both promising, and hopefully even inspiring to other service members.

I’ve seen these rumors elsewhere on Lemmy but still haven’t seen great reportage on it. I’m trying hard to remain skeptical but hopeful.

Quick aside, ‘…as young people are often wont to do’ would I believe be the correct usage here, unless you remove ‘are’.
