VICTIMS of domestic abuse are to receive better support while their cases go through the courts, after £5 million of extra funding for a new scheme was announced by the government today.

Solicitor General Ellie Reeves said the Crown Prosecution Service would receive the sum over the next two years, aimed at supporting people who contact the police for help.

Ministers will reportedly target the funds at “the most serious” instances of domestic abuse.
