On Saturday 7 March 2026, anti-genocide and Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) activists held the inaugural “Arrestable Art Exhibition” outside the Tate Modern gallery on London’s South Bank. The installation is a movable exhibition to support free speech in the UK and highlight the Starmer regime’s anti-democratic war on freedom of speech and protest. This war has seen thousands arrested for expressing an opinion about Starmer’s unlawful ban on the Palestine Action group and has allowed police to arbitrarily and often brutally prevent protests against Israel’s crimes and the destruction of the climate.
First held outside the main entrance to the Tate Modern, the exhibition follows the tradition of art as a challenge to state repression and censorship. Its organisers, the ‘Rank and File Trade Unionists for Divestment from Israel’ group, says this act of resistance is “sorely needed” and is expected to grow and multiply.
