Ed Davey has taken aim at “tax exiles like Isabel Oakeshott and washed up old footballers” who have been evacuated from Dubai, paid for by the UK taxpayer, after Iran fired missiles at the city. The Liberal Democrat leader said on Monday that people like Oakeshott “mock ordinary people who stay in the UK” to pay taxes here — and insisted that since the armed forced are working to protect them, they should start paying their way to fund them.
