After the Islamic Republic of Iran confirmed the assassination of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli airstrikes on Saturday, February 28, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) threatened to carry out “a different and harsh step of revenge”.

The IRGC’s revenge began immediately with successive waves of missile and drone strikes against US and Israeli sites across the West Asia region.

Media reports surfaced on Sunday evening, quoting a statement of the IRGC, in which it announced the outcomes of the seventh and eighth waves of its retaliatory attacks.

The IRGC claimed in the statement that 560 US troops were wounded or killed in strikes that targeted a number of US military facilities in the region.

The IRGC declared that it forced the Ali Al-Salem naval base in Kuwait to go “completely out of operation”. Three maritime US infrastructural facilities at the Mohammed Al-Ahmad Naval Base in the Gulf country were also reportedly destroyed.

In Bahrain, the IRGC’s strikes severely damaged the command and support centers of the US naval base in Mina Salman with four drones. Meanwhile, the whereabouts of US forces in the country were struck with two ballistic missiles.

According to the IRGC, consecutive counterattacks were waged against other US bases in different parts of West Asia, including key installations in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for their involvement in the aggression against Iran.

Furthermore, missile strikes were launched on US and British oil tankers for trespassing in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, setting them ablaze.

Earlier during the day, the IRGC announced that it attacked the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln with four ballistic missiles, as part of “Operation True Promise 4”, which was launched on Saturday in retaliation for the new US-Israeli aggression on the Islamic Republic.

In the aftermath of launching the seventh and eighth waves of strikes, the IRGC launched the ninth wave against US and Israeli targets in the region and occupied Palestine late Sunday.

At least 40 Israelis were killed and 60 others were injured in the occupied city of Haifa as a result of the last wave of attacks. The death toll is yet to be confirmed by the Israeli side.

Netanyahu’s office was targeted in the 10th wave of attacks

The spokesperson of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the unified combatant command headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, appeared in a televised speech on Monday, March 2, announcing the results of the 10th wave of “Operation True Promise 4”. The office of Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the residence of Israel’s airforce commander were among the attacked sites.

“The office of the criminal prime minister of the Zionist entity, and the residence of its Air Force commander were targeted with focused surprise attacks, using Kheibar missiles as part of the 10th wave,” he noted.

The Khatam al-Anbiya’s spokesperson clarified that the targeted sites were severely stricken by the Iranian Armed Forces, while the fate of Netanyahu is still unclear.

He added that the attacks in the 10th wave mainly targeted the Israeli government complex. Meanwhile, the Iranian Air Defense units succeeded in downing three US fighter jets as they attacked Iran.
