Geese’s Max Bassin shouted “Free Palestine” at his acceptance speech at the 2026 Brit Awards – but ITV2 censored his words for the live audience. The drummer, whose Brooklyn band beat Haim and Tame Impala to the International Group of the Year prize, reportedly shouted: “Free Palestine, fuck ICE, RIP Mani, let’s go Geese”. Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield, bassist for the Stone Roses and Primal Scream, died last November aged 63. The annual awards show took place on 28 February at Manchester’s Co-Op – the first time in 47 years that it left London.
