Community members gathered in Southeast Washington, DC to demand answers in the death of Julian Bailey, a 43-year-old father who was shot to death Feb. 11 by U.S. Marshals. Bailey is the third person in the District of Columbia that U.S. Marshals have killed since Trump’s federal law enforcement “surge.” The surge officially ended last August, but officers from dozens of U.S agencies remain patrolling the capital. Police say that they pursued Bailey after he allegedly threatened a woman at a convenience store and, after they rammed his car, he approached them pointing a gun. Bailey’s family and social justice advocates question the police account and are demanding release of all body cam footage. 🎥 @esther_iverem
