A small group consisting of members of World BEYOND War, Veterans For Peace, and The Peace Pact gathered in Norwalk CT for a banner drop against the potential impending U.S. war of aggression on Iran. This was done over I-95, the most traveled roadway in the United States.
Our presence received great support from the public who signaled their approval by honking horns, waves, peace signs, and words of encouragement. This sentiment is reflected in current polls which show that the overwhelming majority of US citizens don’t want a war with Iran (or anyone). A January 2026 Quinnipiac University Poll found that 70% of voters believe the U.S. should not get involved militarily with Iran.
It should be obvious to all paying attention to the last 25 years of continuous US wars that the wishes of a passive public have little to no influence on our government’s actions. It will take a massive public action to pull our government out of this pattern of endless illegal, destructive, and reckless acts of aggression against nations that dare to defy the wishes of the US empire.
The paradigm of violent conflict over land, resources, ideology, and power is obsolete. It needs to be thrown into the dustbin of history. The existential threats that humanity faces REQUIRE a new paradigm, namely cooperation among nations. Global threats require a global response. This can only be accomplished through dialog, de-escalation, treaties, trust building, and cooperation. The US must give up its hegemonic agenda of domination and become an equal among the 190 nations of the world. Since our government is stuck in the old violent paradigm, it will take we, the people, to demand for the change. Everything we hold dear depends on it.
