On Thursday, over a dozen nurses with the New York State Nurses Association were arrested for blocking the entrance to the front of the Manhattan headquarters of the Greater New York Hospital Association. The nurses’ direct action was part of a “day of action” in their ongoing strike to demand fair wages and benefits and better working conditions. Around 15,000 nurses are currently on strike — the largest in New York City history. Thursday marked day 25 of their strike.
